A Bellefontaine High School vocal music teacher was arrested early Monday and booked into the Logan County Jail on suspicion of importuning involving a person authorities describe as 13, 14, or 15 years old. Brice Henry, 33, was taken into custody Monday morning, October 5, 2026, according to online jail records cited by WHIO. Those records list the booking offense as importuning tied to a victim in that age range.
Bellefontaine Police Chief Christopher Marlow told the station the investigation remains ongoing and offered no further public comment. The department has not released details on how the case began, what specific conduct is alleged, or whether any additional charges have been filed. In a statement sent to district families the same day, Bellefontaine City Schools Superintendent Brad Hall said the alleged incident occurred away from school property and did not involve a Bellefontaine student. “However, we take these allegations with the utmost seriousness.
The safety and well being of our students, staff, and school community remain our absolute highest priority,” Hall wrote. The district placed Henry on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation and revoked his access to school facilities and systems. Hall added that Bellefontaine City Schools is cooperating fully with law enforcement. Because the matter is an active criminal case and a confidential personnel issue, the district said it cannot release more information and directed further questions to the Bellefontaine Police Department.
Under Ohio law, importuning covers certain solicitations for sexual activity directed at minors. Public records available Monday do not show a bond amount, a scheduled court appearance, or any finding of guilt. Henry remains presumed innocent unless and until prosecutors prove the allegations in court. No independent court filings or additional law enforcement statements confirming further charges were available as of Monday evening.
Henry has directed the Bellefontaine High School Symphonic Choir and served as vocal music director and drama advisor in recent school years, according to earlier local coverage of district music programs. The school system has not announced a temporary replacement for his classes.
