HOUMA, La. — Terrebonne Parish deputies are investigating the stabbing deaths of four adults and the critical wounding of a young boy after a Saturday night response in the 200 block of Ashland Drive. Investigators later took 47-year-old Houma resident Kaegan Jude Solet into custody Sunday morning in connection with the case. Deputies were first called to the neighborhood after a boy under the age of 10 arrived at a neighboring home with multiple stab wounds. Officials said the child had fled looking for help.

Acadian Ambulance Service Air Med flew him to a hospital outside the area. As of Sunday morning, First Lt. Blake Tabor, a spokesman for the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, said the child remained in critical condition but was stable. Tabor said investigators believe the boy will survive, while cautioning that his condition remains day to day.

As deputies traced the child’s path and searched the surrounding property, they found four adults dead from apparent stab wounds. Tabor said the four victims were located in two residences on the same Ashland Drive property: two inside a mobile home and two inside a camper in the backyard. Officials have said the victims included at least one elderly woman. The sheriff’s office has not released the names or exact ages of the dead, citing ongoing efforts to notify relatives and interview witnesses.

Authorities have described the scenes as extremely violent. Tabor called the case the first quadruple homicide in the agency’s history and said investigators believe the attacks were targeted rather than random. “This wasn’t just a random act of violence,” he said. Solet was identified Saturday night as a person of interest.

The sheriff’s office asked the public for information on his whereabouts and noted at the time that naming a person of interest is not the same as an arrest or a criminal charge. Deputies located him Sunday morning near the multi-residence property where the victims were found. The office announced his custody in a social media post shortly after 10:30 a.m. Officials later referred to him as the suspect in the fatal stabbings.

Tabor said Solet had injuries that investigators believe are directly related to the attacks and was taken to an out-of-area hospital. He said Solet will be booked on several counts once he is discharged. Specific charges had not been formally announced in public statements available Sunday afternoon. “At this point every indication is that he had everything to do with this particular series of events,” Tabor said.

Officials also said they believe the child was attacked but managed to escape. Investigators have said they believe Solet, the injured boy, and the four adults were connected. They have not described the nature of those relationships or identified a motive. Tabor said detectives are still gathering evidence and that the inquiry is only beginning.

“We are just scratching the surface on what this investigation is going to reveal in the coming days,” he said. Sheriff Tim Soignet has said the investigation remains active. The sheriff’s office has asked anyone with information to contact detectives at 985-876-2500 or to submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers Bayou Region. Public records and prior local reporting show Solet had been accused in earlier Terrebonne Parish stabbing cases that did not end in convictions.

In 2019, detectives obtained a warrant in the fatal stabbing of 41-year-old Kemple Paul Scott Lovell. A grand jury later declined to indict. Later that year, Solet was arrested after a woman was stabbed at a Houma motel. He stood trial and a jury found him not guilty of attempted second-degree murder in November 2023.

Those earlier cases are separate from Saturday’s investigation, and authorities have not said they establish involvement in the Ashland Drive deaths. As of Sunday afternoon, the four adult victims had not been publicly identified. The injured child remained hospitalized. Solet was in medical custody pending booking.

Detectives continued processing the two structures on the Ashland Drive property and developing a timeline of the Saturday night attacks. The sheriff’s office has not released a detailed sequence of how the violence unfolded across the mobile home and the backyard camper. Officials have also not said whether a weapon has been recovered or whether additional people were present before deputies arrived. Those questions, Tabor indicated, are part of the work still underway.

Family members of the dead have not spoken publicly. Neighborhood residents were asked to remain away from the taped-off property while investigators documented the scenes. Terrebonne Parish officials said they would release further confirmed details as victim identifications are completed and as charging decisions are made after Solet is medically cleared. The case remains an active homicide investigation.

Confirmed facts as of Sunday, September 13, 2026, are limited to the four adult deaths, the child’s critical but stable condition, the two-residence crime scene on Ashland Drive, Solet’s custody, and the sheriff’s office statements that the attacks appear targeted and that investigators believe he was involved. Allegations about motive and the precise relationships among those at the property have not been established in official releases.
