Shooting at Newly Opened In N Out Burger in Twin Falls Leaves 3 Dead, 7 Injured TWIN FALLS, Idaho. A shooting at a brand new In N Out Burger restaurant in Twin Falls on Saturday afternoon left at least three people dead and seven others injured, some critically, authorities said. The suspected gunman was found dead near the scene in what officials described as an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound.
The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. local time at the In N Out location on Blue Lakes Boulevard North, in a busy shopping plaza. The restaurant had opened only about a week earlier on July 24 as part of the popular California based chain’s expansion into Idaho. Twin Falls city spokesman Josh Palmer confirmed the death toll and injury count. Some of the wounded were in critical condition.
Police Chief Matthew Hicks said officers responded to reports of an active shooter and found a chaotic scene involving hundreds of people in the area. “We believe the threat to the community is over,” Hicks told reporters. Investigators were still working to identify the gunman and determine a motive. In N Out President Lynsi Snyder confirmed that one of the victims was an employee.
In a statement, she said: “We lost one of our beautiful Associates tonight. She was taking care of our most important asset our customers, and her life was taken by a disgusting human who doesn’t value the lives of others or his own. He shot both on our property and off, and ended his life shortly after he took the previous lives of our Associate and Customers, innocent people, who never saw it coming.”
Witnesses described panic as the shooter, armed with what appeared to be an AR style rifle, opened fire near the drive thru and in the parking area. One bystander reported seeing someone in an In N Out uniform dragging a bleeding co worker to safety. Video circulating online captured parts of the chaotic scene as people fled. The FBI is assisting local authorities with the investigation.
Officials have not released the names of the victims pending notification of next of kin. In N Out leadership expressed heartbreak and said the company is supporting affected employees, customers, and their families while cooperating with police.
