VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA — A deadly shooting outside an Amazon fulfillment center has left two young people dead, with police confirming that the incident appears to have been a murder-suicide involving an 18-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man.

The tragedy unfolded Sunday afternoon, November 1, 2026, at an Amazon facility in the 1800 block of Twin Mills Road in Virginia Beach, sending police rushing to the property and leaving employees confronting a disturbing scene.

Authorities have identified the victim as Aleziah Moody, 18, of Norfolk, Virginia, and the suspected gunman as Tarvaris Washington, 19, of Virginia Beach.

According to the Virginia Beach Police Department, preliminary evidence indicates Washington shot and killed Moody before turning the firearm on himself.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Shooting Unfolds Outside Amazon Warehouse

Police received a report of gunfire at approximately 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Responding officers discovered the two deceased individuals in an outdoor picnic area of the Amazon fulfillment center.

Although early reports described the location as a parking lot, authorities subsequently clarified that the shooting occurred in a picnic area outside the warehouse.

Investigators secured the scene and began collecting evidence while detectives worked to determine the circumstances leading to the violence.

The shooting did not occur inside the warehouse itself.

Police initially withheld the identities of those involved while notifying relatives and examining evidence.

By Monday, November 2, investigators had released the names of both individuals and confirmed that the incident was being investigated as an apparent murder-suicide.

Surveillance Footage Helps Investigators Reconstruct Shooting

Detectives with the Virginia Beach Police Department’s Homicide Unit reviewed surveillance footage from cameras near the scene and interviewed witnesses.

According to the department, that evidence led investigators to conclude that Washington was responsible for Moody’s death before taking his own life.

Police believe the incident was a domestic homicide, although authorities have not publicly established the precise nature of the relationship between the two individuals.

Investigators have also not disclosed what may have triggered the confrontation.

The investigation remains active as detectives continue examining the events preceding the shooting.

Amazon Shuts Down Operations Following Tragedy

The shooting disrupted operations at the Amazon facility as employees dealt with the aftermath.

Amazon temporarily closed the building and arranged for workers to receive pay for missed shifts during the shutdown.

The company also announced that counseling resources would be available to employees affected by the tragedy.

Amazon said it was providing direct support to the families involved and cooperating with law enforcement.

Authorities initially said they had not confirmed whether either deceased individual was employed at the facility.

The incident has raised renewed questions about security around large workplace properties, particularly outdoor areas where employees and visitors may gather.

However, police have not announced any specific security failure involving Amazon.

Two Young Lives Lost

The ages of those involved have made the tragedy particularly devastating.

Moody was just 18 years old, while Washington was 19.

What began as an ordinary Sunday afternoon at a major distribution facility ended with two deaths and a homicide investigation.

Police have not released additional details about the pair’s personal histories or the events that brought them together that afternoon.

Authorities have emphasized that there is no continuing threat to the public.

Investigation Continues
